      I think submission guidelines ought to have a few qualifiers. Very faintly edgy. One micro-millimeter outside the lines. Original in up to three details.

      I had a magazine editor approach me, once upon a time, and say he wanted stories that break out of the expected. When I sent the story, he said, good-naturedly, “I didn’t want ART!!”

    Yes, I wish it were socially acceptable to be this honest. I get in trouble for being blunt and I rarely resort to the F word! Sigh…
